Cryptocurrency wallet, Metamask, has announced that users can now buy ETH directly on ApplePay using their Visas and Mastercards.
Metamask has announced on twitter that the new mobile app update enables its iOS users to use ApplePay to buy ETH and other cryptocurrencies.
MetaMask Mobile Version v4.3.1: Buy Crypto on iOS
MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet developed by ConsenSys Software Inc., a blockchain software company that is focused on building ethereum-based tools and supporting infrastructure. The team revealed in a Twitter thread on March 29, 2022 that a new mobile app version, v4.3.1 has been released with features that allow iOS users purchase by crypto with ApplePay.
The outstanding features of the update gives users the ability to purchase crypto using debit or credit cards through the app eliminating the need to transfer ETH from other exchanges like Binance.
Previously, users would have to transfer Ether from other crypto exchanges like Coinbase or Binance into their MetaMask wallets before trading other coins. The new update announces a backup with payment gateway Wyre, a fiat-to-crypto API network, to let users purchase crypto directly on the app with Mastercard and Visa, via ApplePay.
MetaMask claims that with this update there is improved transparency when interacting with sites and support for gasless transactions. Gas fees are reportedly lower and may be gasless if done on a private blockchain or if the project pays for the gas on the user’s behalf.
The director of communications at ConsenSys said at an interview with a crypto news outlet:
”We wanted to expand the way in which users can convert crypto within the app itself and not have to leave it,”
He also revealed that more integrations that “maximize” options and “streamline” buying crypto are coming soon.
Other v4.3.1 features
Adding to the ApplePay integration, the ConsenSys owned application announced more updates.
When tokens on MetaMask need to be moved by a contract, users must first approve that address to access and move tokens. However, with the new update when a dapp requests users to grant allowance, users can now see the contracts that send the requests and have the option to label the contract for better recognition in the future.
MetaMask also added that the most anticipated feature from the users has been added, the dark mode feature. They said “Dark mode will automatically enable if your OS has dark mode enabled system-wide.”
Also, MetaMask just recently acquired MyCrypto, an Ethereum wallet interface provider to merge technologies and improve security of all their products.
