American fashion giant, GAP, has collaborated with artist Brandon Sines, to launch its first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of a limited edition hoodie.

Non-fungible tokens (NFT) have been riding the wave ever since their inception. The digital artwork industry seems to have hit nitro boosters amassing huge traction from celebrities, sports stars, media houses, global conglomerates as well as start-ups.  This industry has become a billion-dollar industry as digital collectible marketplaces are seeing tens of millions in sales every month. Recently, one of the world’s oldest news agencies, The Associated Press, launched an NFT marketplace to sell a collection of photographs ranging across categories, such as space, climate, and war including Pulitzer Prize-winning images across categories, such as space, climate, and war.

In the latest development, the global retailer offering clothing, accessories, and personal care products, GAP, announced the global launch of its first collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the open-chain blockchain, Tezos. The company aims to create a “gamified” digital experience allowing customers to own a limited edition, collectible GAP hoodie. For this release, GAP has collaborated with Brandon Sines, the artist behind Frank Ape.

    Redefining American Optimism

As per the official blog post, Brandon’s artworks seem to align with Gap’s values of “modern American optimism”. The collection of hoodies will be available in four rarity levels: Common, Rare, Epic, and One of a Kind. The common NFTs will be available from January 13th to January 15th. Rare drops will be made available afterward with Epic drops available on the 19th. Finally, the one-of-a-kind NFT will be sold through an auction, which will begin on the 24th exclusively on the GAP official website. Brandon who seemed quite thrilled about the collaboration remarked,

“I cannot wait to share the physical and digital pieces we’ve been working on with Gap and Frank fans worldwide.”

The “gamified experience” encourages customers to collect iconic Gap hoodie digital art at the Common and Rare levels to unlock the opportunity to purchase the Epic – limited edition digital art by Brandon Sines and a physical Gap x Frank Ape by Sines hoodie.

Headquartered in San Fransisco, California, GAP has expanded to a total of 3100 stores worldwide within a period of 52 years since its inception. John Strain, Chief Digital and Technology Officer of GAP said,
