Binance submitted an official application on October 23, 2026, to operate as an authorized virtual asset service provider with the Central Bank of Brazil. The filing was executed through its local operating unit, BBrasil, ahead of the compliance deadline scheduled for October 30, 2026.
The formal request adheres to the administrative criteria outlined in Instrução Normativa BCB 704. Under this framework, existing cryptocurrency firms must seek explicit authorization to maintain temporary transitional operations. The filing does not represent immediate regulatory clearance.
Operational changes took effect on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, for all users residing within Brazilian territory. As documented in the platform service update notice, the exchange will delist 22 digital assets from its national catalog to remain aligned with local enforcement standards.
The operational adjustment includes restrictions on margin trading, crypto loan products, and hosted cloud mining mechanisms. However, Brazilian accounts retain access to standard spot crypto trading, stablecoin transactions, digital payment tools, and custodial investment features.
Thiago Sarandy, general director of Binance in Brazil, noted that discussions with monetary authorities remain open. The executive stated that the firm aims to reintroduce discontinued financial products once regulatory parameters and direct dialogue with the central bank allow it.
The platform’s regulatory transition occurs alongside expansion in complementary financial products. The company currently reaches 610 million dollars in market issuance across its tokenized BStocks suite, positioning the exchange as a prominent global issuer.
Regulatory scrutiny, however, remains asymmetric across global regions. The organization previously saw its regional mobile application removed from Google Play across multiple European Union territories following implementation deadlines tied to the MiCA regulatory framework.
The Central Bank of Brazil will review the governance architecture, IT security systems, and risk controls submitted by BBrasil. The final operational verdict remains contingent on the administrative review schedules governed by the regulatory authority.
