
Analysts of The Wall Street Journal researchers have 3,300 ICO campaigns on ICOBench, Tokendata and ICORating sites. They found that 16% (513) showed signs of "plagiarism, promises of unrealistic profit and identity theft."
Note that plagiarism primarily concerned whitepaper projects. In the WSJ, sentences containing ten unique words were compared with sentences in similar documents.
At the same time, they searched for the phrases “no losses” and “guaranteed profit”, and also analyzed the photos of the team members and the completeness of their biographies.
Recall that the head of the BitMEX exchange, Arthur Hayes, is convinced that the ICO will regain its popularity within the next 18 months.
