Whirlpool

The developers of the Bitcoin wallet Samourai have announced the integration of a feature called Whirlpool, which is part of a broader solution to anonymize CoinJoin transactions. This writes Bitcoin Magazine .

A new feature has been added in beta mode and mathematically separates inputs (senders) from outputs (recipients), thereby complicating the process of tracking transactions.

Samourai Wallet representatives note that the Whirlpool framework is a fully modular implementation of CoinJoin, developed using a deeply modified fork of the ZeroLink protocol.

The publication also notes that this feature increases the overall interchangeability of Bitcoin, that is, the same value of all the coins, regardless of their previous use. CoinJoin's mixing (mixing) of coins makes them the same and thus ensures the anonymity of transactions.

At the same time, it is not entirely clear whether Whirlpool will help to quickly collect the required number of participants in mixing rounds. For example, in the case of a competing Wasabi Wallet, it may take several hours to ensure the participation of the required number of participants – from 50 to 100 users.

Earlier in June , the partnership of Samourai Wallet with the French company Nodl was announced. The cooperation is aimed at creating a self-developing Bitcoin-Lightning node that allows you to use the Samourai mobile application without having to rely on its centralized servers.

Users of the Nodl node will be able to synchronize with the Dojo software from Samourai Wallet, which features the above-mentioned Whirlpool function.
