Payment giant Western Union is preparing for the "inevitable" rise of cryptocurrency and, without wasting time, experimenting with cross-border transfers based on Ripple technology. Reports about it Daily HODL .
According to Western Union Digital Senior Vice President Molly Shi, in the digital age, the company aims to remain competitive and efficient. Also, representatives of the American payment giant assume that the future may be behind cryptocurrencies.
“When you think about cryptocurrencies, the first thing that comes to mind is that you need to be ready for their takeoff. We need to be prepared for this from a technological point of view , ”she shares her thoughts. “ We must constantly identify trends that customers are paying attention to and ensure that they are ready to meet their needs.”
According to Molly Shih, Western Union continues to test Ripple payment solutions. In particular, the company has been exploring the capabilities of xRapid technology for some time, where the digital asset XRP is involved.
“We are conducting pilot testing of payments based on Ripple for certain payment corridors. The American dollar and the Mexican peso are one example. And we are really exploring acceptable options. The choices we have chosen must meet regulatory requirements and be as suitable as possible for widespread use. ”
Recall that in December, Western Union announced its readiness to work with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
