The State Duma of the Russian Federation is considering the possibility of establishing administrative responsibility for mining cryptocurrencies in public blockchains. This writes TASS referring to the statement of the head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov.
“I will note that actions with cryptocurrency that are not conditional on Russian legislation will be considered illegitimate. This means that “mining”, organizing the issue, circulation, creating exchange points for these tools will be prohibited, he said, adding that administrative responsibility in the form of a fine can be provided for the described activity.
We believe that cryptocurrencies created on open blockchains – Bitcoins, ethers, etc., are illegitimate tools. ”
At the same time, Aksakov separately noted that this article does not prohibit the possession of cryptocurrencies, which “were acquired under foreign law at foreign points of sale and exchange, but not in Russia”.
According to Aksakov:
"Now a critical mass of actions and operations are accumulating that will allow Bitcoin to become popular again."
In March, the State Duma proposed issuing permits to transfer funds from bank accounts to digital currencies.
