The State Duma has completed the preparation of proposals for the regulation of the cryptocurrency industry, based on the requirements of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF). This writes the TASS with reference to the statement of the head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov.
Earlier this week, Aksakov reported that the adoption of the law on digital financial assets in the Russian Federation was “stuck” due to the demands put forward by the FATF.
"Recently there was a session of FATF, which proposed to resolve the issue related to cryptocurrency , and therefore we slowed down a bit and have now prepared proposals," Aksakov said this Friday.
Participants in the crypto industry at the international level expressed opposition to the regulatory measures currently being developed by the FATF, assuming that their execution by official companies may be impossible and will lead to the flowering of the shadow business. FATF, in turn, promised to listen to all opinions, however, it showed its readiness to soften its position.
What exactly the requirements can be introduced in Russian bills in accordance with the instructions of the FATF, the media do not specify.
