The Japanese crypto-exchange Bitpoint temporarily suspended its activities in connection with the hacker attack, as a result of which the attackers managed to withdraw $ 32 million to Bitcoin, Ripple and other cryptocurrency.

Bitpoint's official statement says that in general, the crypto exchange lost ¥ 3.5 billion (approximately $ 32 million) of which ¥ 2.5 billion (approximately $ 23 million) are user funds, and ¥ 1 billion ($ 9.2 million) – Bitpoint tools.

According to Bloomberg, Remixpoint Inc., the parent company of Bitpoint, fell 19% after it became aware of the hacker attack. Funds from five cryptocurrencies were stolen from hot Bitpoint wallets, in particular Bitcoin, Ripple, Ethereum, Litecoin. According to Bitpoint, the attackers did not gain access to the cold wallets of the exchange.

It is worth noting that Bitpoint was one of many crypto exchanges that was under tight control by the Japanese financial regulator (FSA). The agency is making every effort to secure security from crypto-stock exchanges when working with a new asset class after last year a hacker attack was made on the Coincheck trading platform, due to which attackers stole over $ 500 million.
