Vlad Nistor, founder of the Coinflux Romanian Stock Exchange, will be extradited to the United States. This is reported by local media company Mediafax .
As previously reported , Nistor was arrested in December at the request of the US authorities. Coinflux bank accounts were frozen. The founder of the exchange is accused of fraudulent activities, participation in organized criminal activities and money laundering.
According to Mediafax, the lawyer of the accused Anatol Panzaru protested against extradition, arguing that the conditions for judicial cooperation between Romania and the United States were not met. The lawyer is also confident that Nistor is mistakenly accused of crimes committed in the United States by other Romanian citizens.
According to Panzar, the fraudsters initially converted income into bitcoins in the United States, therefore, it was there that the actual money laundering occurred. After that, other people converted BTC back to fiat currency on the Coinflux exchange in Romania. Thus, Nistor could not have known that these were illegally obtained funds.
CoinFlux was founded in 2015. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and XRP were traded on the stock exchange.
Recall that last spring, due to problems with banking services, the Romanian BTCxChange crypto-exchange was closed .
