The developer proposed to make Ethereum Classic a base chain for Ethereum

A well-known developer from the ETCDEV team, Donald McIntyre, said that the mutual integration of Ethereum Classic with Ethereum would create a truly safe and effective blockchain. He spoke about this in an interview with CryptoGlobe .

“ETH can be viewed as a sports car, and ETC as armored. ETH means scaling and performance, and ETC means high cost and security , ”he stressed.

McIntyre added that Ethereum Classic and Ethereum cover different directions in the blockchain industry, but combining the capabilities of both ecosystems would allow them to compete in the future with alternative projects – EOS, Tezos and Cardano.

So, in his opinion, if Ethereum is committed to scaling and processing a large number of transactions, Ethereum Classic can act as a “highly secure base chain” to ensure the security of the first.

MacIntyre noted that after Ethereum’s final transition to the Proof-Of-Stake consensus algorithm, Ethereum Classic will remain “the only PoW blockchain with a fixed monetary policy” [in addition to Bitcoin].

“This is an extremely valuable niche in the industry, and its value will only increase in the next few years.”

The developer also criticized the statement of EOS founder Dan Larimer about the superiority of the Delegated Proof-Of-Stake consensus algorithm over existing counterparts. In his opinion, distributed registries like EOS are not full-fledged blockchains, but only imitate consensus and security that exist on the Bitcoin network and Ethereum Classic.

So, he believes, centralized systems like EOS are overloaded with bureaucracy and lose even the AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud and Google Cloud products, in which security is mediated.

MacIntyre is confident that in a few years the ecosystem of cryptocurrency protocols will come to the division into the base layer and the superstructure. The task of the first is to provide security to the detriment of speed and low transaction fees. However, add-ons over the base layer [Lightning Network, Plasma, Raiden, Liquid and others] will solve these problems.

“If Ethereum, EOS, Cardano, Tezos and other PoS networks recognize their true nature, they will no longer compete at the basic level and will agree to be the second layer ,” concluded McIntyre.

Recall, the ETCDEV development team fell apart due to funding problems at the end of 2018.
