Telegram, a service intended for the exchange of information, intends to launch its darknet platform based on the blockchain Telegram Open Network (TON) in the third quarter of this year.
According to media reports, representatives of Telegram told the Gram tokens holders that the development team had successfully completed the testing of TON – the virtual machine (VM) of the new project, as well as the algorithm used by it called Byzantine ready to perform the tasks outlined in the white book.
Recall that in April it became known that Telegram launched a private testing of the darknet network, access to which received a limited number of developers. Programmers who participated in the testing stated that the TON blockchain demonstrated decent transaction processing speed. The TON platform will allow its users to launch decentralized applications (dApps) in a manner similar to what is possible when interacting with Ethereum.
Meanwhile, in February, Pavel Durov, the creator of Telegram, told investors who had invested in Gram, TON's own cryptocurrency, that if the TON network was not launched before the end of October of this year, the company would return the invested funds to them. Gram's primary offer of tokens became one of the largest in the entire history of ICO – the company managed to raise $ 1.7 billion. It was assumed that the TON platform will be launched in March, but the developers apparently took more time to test and improve the network.
