Telegram, the popular messaging app with over 800 million users, has announced the integration of TON Blockchain’s Web3 wallet into its platform. The wallet, which was previously available as a standalone bot, will now be accessible to all Telegram users through their settings.
TON Blockchain is a decentralized platform that aims to provide scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions for Web3 applications. Its native token, TON, surged 13% after the announcement, reaching a three-month high of $1.97.
Telegram and TON are Improving Their Services
The integration of the TON Web3 wallet will allow Telegram users to easily interact with the TON Blockchain and its ecosystem of projects. Users will be able to send and receive TON tokens, participate in decentralized applications (DApps), and access various Web3 services.
One of the projects that will benefit from the integration is TON Space, a digital wallet that supports multiple cryptocurrencies and NFTs. TON Space will also be available to Telegram users through the TON Web3 wallet.
Another project that will have privileged access to Telegram’s platform is TON Ads, an advertising network that leverages the TON Blockchain and its smart contracts. TON Ads will enable advertisers and publishers to connect directly and transparently, without intermediaries or commissions.
The integration of the TON Web3 wallet is a major milestone for the TON Blockchain project, which was originally developed by Telegram but faced regulatory hurdles from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The project was then handed over to a community of developers and supporters, who continued to build and maintain the network.
The TON Blockchain team and Telegram’s Chief Investment Officer, John Hyman, announced the integration at the Token2049 conference in Singapore on Tuesday. They also launched a marketing campaign that gives away 1 free TON token to users who scan a QR code on Twitter.
The integration of the TON Web3 wallet is expected to boost the adoption and awareness of the TON Blockchain and its projects, as well as enhance the user experience and functionality of Telegram.
