According to a survey conducted by order of the Japanese cryptobirth bitFlyer, 63% of Europeans believe that cryptocurrency will exist in 10 years, and only 49% refer to Bitcoin.

The study involved 10 thousand respondents from the UK, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Spain.

The most optimistic about the future of cryptocurrency were respondents from Norway – 73% believe in their existence in a decade. Least of all believe in it in France – only 55%.

The same percentage of Italians believe that after 10 years Bitcoin will continue to exist, and the French are least sure of this. On average, the long-term prospects of the first cryptocurrency were only positively evaluated by 49% of the respondents.

Only 8% of Europeans believe that Bitcoin will be introduced into society as a form of currency. Even fewer Europeans believe that BTC will become an investment instrument and a stock asset – only 7% agree with this. Residents of Great Britain (4%) believe the least of all, the Poles most of all (11%).

According to the survey, BitFlyer Europe’s chief operating officer, Andy Bryant, noted that the reputation of cryptocurrency went beyond the HYIP and became more stable.

“It is very easy to forget how cryptocurrency is still new. We have just celebrated the 10th birthday of Bitcoin, so for most consumers, confidence in the future of cryptocurrencies is undoubtedly an achievement. The next step for the industry is to more effectively promote the benefits and options for using cryptocurrency for consumers, so that people understand how they will be used in society, ” he added.

Europeans have less faith in Bitcoin than in other cryptocurrencies (49% versus 63%), Bryant explained by the continued media attention to the volatility of BTC.

Not surprisingly, the UK bitFlyer survey respondents were among the main pessimists regarding the future of digital assets – according to previous studies, only 3% of Britons invested in cryptocurrency.
