Rosneft does not exclude the possibility of payments for oil using cryptocurrency

The president of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, did not rule out the possibility of paying for oil using cryptocurrency in the future. He stated this at the session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, reports Snob.

In his opinion, the likelihood of this increases the penetration of such technological giants as Google, Apple, Amazon and Facebook into the oil and gas industry. Therefore, someday it will be possible to pay for a barrel of oil with GlobalCoin , Facebook tokens, he added.

But Sechin noted that a number of unresolved issues remain for cryptocurrency for large energy companies:

“Greater flexibility often means greater volatility, and digitalization creates risks for maintaining commercial secrets and leads to the need to create new regulatory mechanisms, additional redundancy. Today, technology companies do not have quality answers to these fundamental questions. ”

Recall that earlier Venezuela announced the transition in the current year on payments for oil in the national cryptocurrency Petro (PTR). It is known that last year, India, one of the largest buyers of Venezuelan oil, refused to make payments in cryptocurrency, despite the proposed 30 percent discount to the price.
