New York State Attorney-General Barbara Underwood handed the information about the three main crypto-exchange exchanges to the State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) because of a possible violation of the rules applied to the virtual currency in New York. Mentioned exchanges Binance, Gate.io and Kraken. The information came from the Integrity Initiative Report on Virtual Markets, published by the Office of the Attorney-General of the State of New York (OAG) today.
The report details the problems initially posed by OAG regarding the operations of crypto-exchange platforms, especially with regard to security, internal controls, market surveillance protocols and other appropriate measures to protect consumers and investors.
Kraken CEO Jeff Powell abruptly responded to the regulator's announcement, saying that OAG requirements showed "disrespect."
