The Nomad Protocol has just made an announcement about the Nomad Whitehat Prize. The team has initiated a new strategy to convince the hackers who stole money from the Nomad bridge earlier this month to return the stolen funds in compensation for the Whitehat NFT.
Nomad has collaborated with Metagame to create this non-fungible token. According to Nomad’s offer, the special NFT may be mined by any hacker who returns at least 90% of the money they stole. The open source EVM translator provided by Metagame is what is utilized to verify all returns.
Twitter Users Have a Response
People on Twitter didn’t hold back when they made fun of the offer to get “good samaritans” to pay back the money they seized during the bridge raid. Many of them were quite direct in their criticism. It is reasonable to conclude that the offer that Nomad presented to its consumers was not well received by those people.
One person, for instance, asked the question, “Did the Nomad Twitter account also get hacked?” in a tweet. This was an allusion to the attack on the bridge that kicked everything off.
Metagame’s Explanation
Metagame provided a response to the tweet.
Brennan Spear, the person who conceptualized Metagame, is of the opinion that offering credit to individuals who behave ethically would inspire them to do further acts of kindness for the benefit of the community.
Furthermore, according to the Whitehat Prize website:
“We support people doing the right thing even if it’s for the wrong reason, and we hope that things like this will encourage more people to do the right thing.”
In fact, Nomad is partnering with the Web3 social network Forefront to give away one hundred FF tokens. However, this promotion is limited to the first fifty customers who respond with payment.
Interestingly, with the data provided by Etherscan, a total of $36.3 million has been sent back to the Official Nomad Funds.
