The head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, Anatoly Aksakov, said that mining should be taxed as a type of business.

“ Mining should be taxed, because there is such a type of business, people earn money, many earn good money, and therefore taxes must be paid ,” said Aksakov.

To bring mining under taxation, this type of business must be defined at the legislative level, the head of the Duma committee added. The term will be spelled out in the law “On digital financial assets,” he stressed.

The mentioned bill was submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in March of this year, in May the document passed the first reading. In June, it became known that lawmakers replaced the concepts of “digital money” and “digital currency” with “digital rights” contrary to the position of the Ministry of Finance. In September, it was reported that the concepts of mining and cryptocurrency had been removed from the law designed to regulate digital currencies.

Recall that last fall in the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation expressed the idea of introducing a patent mining taxation system, the ministry also spoke of the need to adopt for this separate law. In July of this year, Anatoly Aksakov said that they would not develop a special tax regime for Russian miners – they would be subject to the norms of current fiscal legislation.
