Two anonymous sources who are familiar with Facebook’s plans shared with CoinDesk that Christian Catalini is now working with Facebook to help her develop in a crypto-space. It is assumed that Facebook is developing a stablebcoin, through which millions of social network users will have the opportunity to share with each other means and make online purchases.

Catalini is one of the most prominent researchers in the field of cryptocurrency. So, last year, Christian Catalini, along with Joshua Gans, who is a professor at the University of Toronto, presented a report on ICO and the value of tokens. In addition, Catalini also took part in research work on the gap between the stated interest of consumers in the protection of confidential data and their willingness to refuse it. Catalini worked on researching this issue with his colleagues, Kathryn Tucker from Massachusetts Technological University and Susan Atie from Stanford University.

Information that Facebook is considering the possibility of creating its own coins began to appear in May 2018. Last week, representatives of The Wall Street Journal reported that Facebook plans to attract $ 1 billion to its crypto project, called Libra, the company continues to negotiate potential support with Visa and MasterCard payment systems. Neither Facebook nor Professor Christian Catalini has yet confirmed information about the Libra project.
