Literain network hashrate reached a new historical maximum of

The Literain network hashrate has updated the previous record in this month, recorded at the end of May 2018.

According to the Litecoin Foundation blog, this happened on April 4, when the total network capacity was 359.43TH / s. The previous record 11 months ago was 342.88TH / s.

The report notes that the record growth of the hashrate also coincided with the release of LTC to the absolute price maximum in 2019 in the region of $ 99.

Since then, the price of cryptocurrency, and with it the hashrate have fallen somewhat, however, representatives of the organization say that recent events suggest that the Litecoin network has become even more resistant to possible attacks.

Traditionally, in the Proof-of-Work networks, which Litecoin belongs to, the hashrate follows the price, however, the Litecoin Foundation does not exclude that the latter increase in network capacity can be explained by more efficient mining. A clear answer on this question from representatives of the organization, however, yet.

Recall that in the first quarter of 2019, the price of Litecoin increased by 100% , which was the best indicator in the entire history of the existence of this cryptocurrency.

In addition, this summer – approximately on August 6 – the so-called halving will take place in the Litecoin network, when the reward for the found block decreases from the current LTC 25 to 12.5 LTC.
