A veteran of the cryptocurrency industry and a well-known Bitcoin developer Jameson Lopp went on promotion at the Casa startup, where he got the position of technical director. This writes CoinDesk .

In his new role, Lopp will focus on ensuring that the company's products match the proposed corporate service for cold (offline) cryptocurrency storage, with only an annual fee of $ 10,000, and the waiting list has more than a hundred users.

Casa's digital wallet, which startup founder Jeremy Welch calls the premium hodl software, uses the multisig system: when it is opened, five private keys are created, three of which must be signed to complete the transaction. One key is stored on the user's phone, the second is from company representatives and is used in case of loss of the first key. The other three keys are stored in Trezor or Ledger hardware wallets.

In addition, Casa is developing additional products designed to help customers manage their bitcoins placed on long-term storage, including hardware wallets protection and inheritance planning. Jameson Lopp will also be involved in the development of complementary products and their safe keeping up to date when Casa adds support for other cryptocurrencies.

“I see difficulties and the need to find compromises when we, as an organization, begin to support a wide range of systems. It will be interesting to solve these problems, ”said Lopp.

In addition to the bitcoin storage service, Casa also manufactures its own hardware nodes for the Lightning Network. First introduced in September of this year, they are devices with a preloaded Bitcoin blockchain for the fastest possible synchronization and an intuitive interface for management.

Devices are designed primarily for users who do not have serious technical expertise, which is still often required to run Lightning-node. According to Lopp, today the company has already sold more than 500 such devices, which is about 12% of all nodes in the Lightning Network. By the end of the year, the company plans to reach 20-25%.

Recall Jameson Lopp came to Casa in March of this year, having left the company BitGo, where he also held the position of technical director.

In October, the position of the head of the strategic development of Casa was taken by ex-CEO and co-founder of Satoshi Labs and Trezor Alyona Vranova.
