Investor Mark Mobius: I will have to buy Bitcoin if growth continues

Founder and partner of Mobius Capital Partners Mark Mobius, a well-known investor in emerging markets, suggested that he could acquire Bitcoin if his growth continued. It is noteworthy that before that he had taken a rather skeptical position regarding cryptocurrency.

“I am not a buyer, but we have to reckon with this [cryptocurrency] ,” Mobius said.

Nevertheless, the investor did not forget to mention that cryptocurrencies are allegedly used for criminal purposes, including drug trafficking, although researchers have repeatedly argued that criminals prefer fiat money.

At the same time, he added that in order for cryptocurrencies to work, they need faith, despite the fact that this argument is more applicable to the currencies of central banks, and not to the Bitcoin protocol.

“One way or another, many believe it. And if growth continues, I will probably be forced to become a buyer, ” he concluded as a result.

Note that other famous investors and eminent representatives of the financial industry take an ambiguous position regarding Bitcoin. For example , Warren Buffet and his partner, Charles Munger , and JPMorgan Chase CEO of Jamie Dimon are known for their harsh criticism, but Mark Andriessen, a venture business legend, on the contrary, even changed his company's legal status to work with cryptocurrencies.

At the end of 2017, Mobius announced that investors would leave the cryptocurrency sector for gold because of tight regulation.
