In the Russian Federation may introduce administrative responsibility for mining cryptocurrency based on public blockchains. About this in a conversation with TASS said the Head of the State Duma Committee on the financial market, Anatoly Aksakov.

“I will note that actions with cryptocurrency that are not conditional on Russian legislation will be considered illegitimate. This means that “mine”, organizing the issue, circulation, creation of exchange points for these tools will be prohibited. Administrative liability in the form of a fine will be provided for this. We believe that cryptocurrencies created on open blockchains – bitcoins, ethers, etc., are illegitimate tools , ”said the deputy.

He also stressed that it is still possible to own a cryptocurrency, but only on condition that it “was acquired under foreign law at foreign points of sale and exchange, but not in Russia”.

According to Aksakov, "a critical mass of actions and operations are now accumulating that will allow Bitcoin to become popular again." For example, the first cryptocurrency can become even more attractive if the speed of transactions in its network increases.

Also during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the deputy reminded that the adoption of the law “On digital financial assets” stalled due to the FATF requirements for the regulation of cryptocurrency. However, according to him, the law will be adopted in June before the end of the spring session.

Recall that in April, State Duma deputy Nikolai Arefyev proposed to ban Bitcoin all over the world, and to pursue the persons involved in its distribution as speculators.
