Switzerland's largest online retailer Digitec Galaxus AG has started accepting Bitcoin and several other cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.

Swiss customers of online stores Digitec and Galaxus will be able to pay for purchases Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin Cash SV (BSV), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), Binance Coin (BNB), Litecoin (LTC) , TRON (TRX), OmiseGo (OMG) and NEO (NEO).

If the experiment with cryptocurrency payments in Switzerland is successful, the company intends to extend this form of payment to its online stores in Germany.

A new method of payment was implemented in the framework of the pilot project together with the Swiss electronic payment provider Datatrans AG. Transactions are processed using the Coinify cryptocurrency payment processor.

The procedure for paying for purchases with cryptoactives is quite simple. When choosing a payment method cryptocurrency client is redirected to the site Coinify, where he selects a specific coin. The exchange rate is fixed for 15 minutes, payment is made via a QR code. The minimum purchase amount for cryptocurrency – from 200 Swiss francs ($ 200).

The store does not charge any fees, the commission Coinify is 1.5% of the amount paid. It is noteworthy that this is less than taking PayPal commissions – 2%.

“Cryptocurrencies are fascinating and can become an important means of payment in e-commerce. We would like to support this development , ”said Digitec co-founder and director of innovation, Oliver Herren.

He added that the company had long wanted to introduce a new form of payment, but the implementation of the service took longer than expected.

We also recall that one of the largest online retailers in the world, the American company Overstock.com, can integrate Bitsy crypto-purse to pay for goods with cryptocurrency this year.
