In the near future, the possibility of lawful use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment for goods and services, as well as criminal liability for mining of cryptocurrency will not be provided for in Russia. This writes the RNS with reference to the statement of Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseyev.
“Turnover from the point of view of using cryptocurrency to calculate and pay for goods, works and services, of course, will be banned in Russia, it seems to me, always. I don’t know what will happen in 100 years, but in the immediate future this will never happen , ”he said, adding that the national currency in the Russian Federation is the Russian ruble, which should be used for calculations.
He stressed that at present it is not planned to introduce criminal liability for cryptocurrency miners. According to Moiseyev, such a possibility had previously been discussed.
“It will be absolutely impossible to describe the corpus delicti, therefore we decided to first describe the subject, and then we will think about it,” he added.
The deputy minister returned to the information announced last week that the bill on digital financial assets should be adopted in the current session of the State Duma, as it is included in the national project for the development of the digital economy. As Moses explained, “one disagreement remains, but it will not be possible to remove it at the worker’s level,” so the decision will be made “at the political level”.
Earlier, he reported that the deputies are still deciding whether to recognize Bitcoin as an unsecured tool, for organizing the treatment of which appropriate responsibility will be provided, or to legalize it and impose further regulation of this issue on the Central Bank.
