The American company IBM, one of the world's largest suppliers of hardware and software, has filed a patent application for a web browser that will operate on the basis of blockchain technology.
According to the patent application, which was filed on August 6 by contacting IBM representatives to the US Patent and Trademark Office, the described browser is designed to collect the specified information, which will subsequently be transferred to the peer-to-peer network for storage. The type of information collected will depend on the choice of settings by the end user.
The patent says that a browser using the blockchain will be especially useful for users who are worried about their privacy. Among the advantages of a web browser operating on the blockchain, one can note resistance to attacks, as well as storing user data in the blockchain – if necessary, the user will be able to access the data backup. In addition, the IBM system provides for the use of its own web browser token, which will make it possible to verify user activity while using the browser.
Recall that on the eve it became known about a new IBM project called “Trust Your Supplier”, which involves the creation of a digital system for identifying suppliers, exchanging data between suppliers and customers. It is assumed that the project will help simplify the process of establishing agreements in this area, as well as eliminate the risks associated with fraud. Cisco, Lenovo, Nokia, Vodafone, Schneider Electric have already joined the project.
