    IBM and Norilsk Nickel will train blockchain specialists based on MIPT

    Norilsk Nickel, IBM and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) signed an agreement on the creation of a center of competence to train specialists in the development of digital technologies for the mining industry as part of the ongoing International Economic Forum. Reports about it TASS.

    The tasks of the new center will include student training, research, the creation of digital ecosystems and the development of effective practices in the use of information technologies in such areas as blockchain , the Internet of things , optimization systems.

    For its part, MIPT will launch master and postgraduate programs. It is expected that the first undergraduates of the Blockchain direction will start their studies in the autumn of 2019.

    “Students and graduate students of the program will learn how to use blockchain technologies, will gain knowledge about the activities of cryptobirge, steakblockers, tokenization platforms and related services,” the parties to the agreement noted.

    In addition, the institute plans to conduct training events on the subject of Norilsk Nickel and to create prototypes for the mining industry based on IBM solutions.

    From the side of IBM the center will get access to specialized scientific and educational materials. Norilsk Nickel will provide the center with its production sites for working out solutions and conducting research, and will also pay a scholarship to students.

    “In the arsenal of IBM, there are several hundred projects around the world related to the introduction of the blockchain. The demand for this technology will only grow, so now we need to train specialists with the necessary knowledge and skills, ”said IBM Director General in Russia and the CIS countries Iris Jeba.

    Earlier, the President of Norilsk Nickel, Vladimir Potanin, said that the tokenization of goods and services would attract cryptocurrency investors to the technology industry.
