A hacker from the Vladimir region was sentenced to 20 months in prison for mining at the computing facilities of the state integrated telecommunications system. It is reported by the news agency Tass.

The sentence of 42-year-old resident of the Vladimir region, who was engaged in mining cryptocurrency on state servers, passed the Murom City Court. Vladimir Morozov was convicted under the article “Creating, using and distributing malicious computer programs” and was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison.

In the course of the investigation, it was found out that the hacker in January 2017 hacked the state server with the help of several Trojan viruses, after which he launched a mining process for them cryptocurrency. As representatives of the UFSB in the Vladimir region, the offender did not manage to make a fortune.

It is worth noting that criminal cases are increasingly gaining popularity in Russia one way or another connected with cryptocurrency and fraud. For example, not so long ago, a cybercriminal who hacked into the cable car management system in Moscow, demanded a bitcoin ransom from the operating company.

Also digital assets are actively used for the legalization of drugs. Thus, a drug dealer was caught in Perm, who, in addition to the corresponding product, found one million rubles, which was stored on a crypto wallet in Bitcoin . It is noteworthy that the law enforcement agencies have already managed to cash out the confiscated cryptocurrency.
