The last quarterly financial report of Ripple showed that the company sold XRP worth $ 129 million. At the same time, the total amount of XRP coins sold in 2018 was about $ 535 million.
The quarterly report also informed cryptoinvestors about the escrow for three months. The Ripple team explained this as follows:
In the 4th quarter of 2018, 3 billion XRPs were again issued from escrow (1 billion each month). 2.4 billion XRPs were then re-entered into new escrow agreements, and the remaining 600 million XRPs continue to be used to maintain the normal functioning of the XRP ecosystem, including RippleNet and other projects.
It is also worth noting that the company applies restrictions on the sale of XRP. In the case of volume discounts, it is available in XRP or USD. The Ripple team explained that the sale restrictions will apply to customers who wish to receive an XRP for a discount. Such restrictions are necessary to prevent any damage to the XRP markets if assets are suddenly sold in bulk.
The Ripple team explained how the volume discount would work:
Volume Rebate (volume discount) is a discount on licenses and fees provided to RippleNet members after they reach certain integration stages and volume in a limited time.
Also Monica Long, vice president of marketing for Ripple, announced the following incentive program:
As we offer incentives in XRP, we expect to see the added advantage that institutions can easily use XRP in their payment streams to reduce the cost of liquidity in the future.
Early receipt of these XRP incentives during the testing phase was very positive.
