During today's conference call, the leading developers of Ethereum decided not to include the ProgPoW proposal code in the current protocol update, which allows reducing the impact of ASIC miners on the ecosystem. It is reported by CoinDesk .

According to the participants, this proposal needs a thorough audit before implementation. The latter should confirm that this solution will indeed lead to a decrease in mining efficiency on ASIC devices. ProgPoW is designed to make GPU miners more competitive, and the network, therefore, more decentralized.

Code audit will be completed approximately in March or early April. Also, the developers hope to receive constructive suggestions and feedback from the community.

Recall that the activation of the hardfork Constantinople in the Ethereum network should take place on or about February 27 at block # 7,280,000.
