Less than a week after adding the anonymity-oriented Zcash (ZEC) coin to its professional trading platform Coinbase Pro, the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announces the opening of cryptocurrency trading for its retail customers.

Coinbase announced Wednesday that customers using coinbase.com or Android and iOS apps can buy, sell, send, receive or store Zcash. At the same time, access to the anonymous cryptocurrency Zcash is now closed for residents of the state of New York, USA and users from the United Kingdom.

This announcement follows Coinbase Pro’s decision to add support for Zcash, announced on November 29th. It was then reported that only residents of the United States (with the exception of New York), the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Singapore and Australia will be able to access the coin.

In addition, Coinbase pointed out the possibility for customers to use the unique privacy features of the coin. Coinbase users will be able to use "transparent" and anonymous addresses to open deposits. Withdrawals will be available only to owners of "transparent" addresses.

As with Coinbase Pro, Coinbase will not support sending transactions to anonymous addresses at this time. However, customers will be able to send Zcash to the exchange using both types of transactions.

Recall, for the first time, a study of the possibility of listing Cardano (ADA), Basic Attention Token (BAT), Stellar Lumens (XLM), Zcash (ZEC) and Ox (ZRX) was announced on July 13, 2018. Today, the platform has listed Zcash (ZEC), BAT and Оx (ZRX), and it is very likely that the remaining two cryptocurrencies – Cardano or Stellar – will be integrated in the near future.
