Chairman of the House Financial Representatives Committee of the US House Maxine Waters said that her department will continue to study in detail the features of the cryptocurrency initiative Libra from the largest social network Facebook.

Congresswoman introduced the agency’s work plan for this fall. The list of tasks, in particular, contains an obligation to continue studying Libra and the Calibra wallet, created by Facebook.

The committee also intends to seek out opinions on Libra from various senior officials and regulators, including US Treasury chief Stephen Mnuchin, director of the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Kathleen Kraninger, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency Mark Calabria and vice president of the Federal Reserve Randall Quarls.

Recall, Maxine Waters has repeatedly expressed concern about the prospects for launching the Libra project and its possible impact on the financial system. In particular, in June, she said that Facebook should suspend the development of digital currency until regulators understand in detail all the intricacies of the network.

A month later, head Mark Zuckerberg said Facebook would spend “as much time as needed” to win over regulators and other interested parties.
