Representatives of the American company are confident that the new option will help users of the Coinbase Wallet (formerly Toshi) to save funds in case of loss of the device or private keys.
“Now, with a cloud backup, you have the opportunity to store an encrypted copy of the recovery phrase in your personal cloud service account. If you want to recover your funds, you only need a password. If you lose your device or exit the application, you can easily restore access to your funds using your cloud account (iCloud or Google Drive) and password, ” Coinbase blog says .
The company claims that only a Coinbase user will have access to a password and funds.
“The cloud provider will also not have access to your funds. Only you will know the password that decrypts the recovery phrase. ”
Recall that only recently Bitcoin support was added to the Coinbase Wallet. Previously, this wallet only supported ether, Ethereum Classic and ERC20 tokens .
