Representatives of the leading US cryptocurrency company Coinbase said that top manager Adam White is leaving the company, reports Bloomberg .
Adam White served as vice president and general manager of Coinbase. A top manager declined comment.
“And although we are extremely saddened by the fact that he is leaving, we are also confident that the team’s ability to continue the key principles set forth by it to become the most reliable platform for institutional investors ,” said Coinbase spokesman.
White’s departure may have come as a surprise to the company, which has recently been making a lot of efforts to create an infrastructure focused on institutional clients, and is also striving to become the leading trading platform for retail investors.
Recently it became known that Jonathan Kellner, who previously headed the institutional players-oriented brokerage Instinet, will become the new managing director of Coinbase. Apparently, Kellner will continue the work of White.
“Over the past five years, Adam has helped us build the exchange business, thanks to which the company has become the leading crypto-trading platform in the USA. It was a key component in boosting Coinbase’s global presence , ”said company CEO Brian Armstrong.
White joined Coinbase in 2013. At that time, the founders of the startup were still working from a small apartment, and Bitcoin was trading at $ 200. Prior to that, White worked in the US Air Force, as well as a consultant at Bain & Company.
Recall that a few days ago, Coinbase joined the Board of Directors of The Charles Schwab Corporation, Chris Dodds, Senior Direct Investment Advisor.
