
The CEO of the American cryptocurrency company Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, joined the philanthropic campaign The Giving Pledge, launched in 2010 by billionaires Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. This writes CNBC .
Philanthropic billionaires become members of The Giving Pledge who wish to donate at least 50% of their capital to charity. Brian Armstrong became the first crypto-entrepreneur to join this charity program. Other participants in the initiative include Ilon Musk, Ted Turner, David Rockefeller, Michael Bloomberg and George Lucas.
Brian Armstrong said that he always admired those people “whose desire to improve the world exceeds any goals related to personal wealth”. In June, Coinbase CEO launched his own charity campaign called GiveCrypto.org. A non-profit organization helps people living below the poverty line to send money transfers in cryptocurrency.
