Bakkt cryptocurrency platform has confirmed the start of trading in bitcoin futures on the own market of the operator of the New York Stock Exchange Intercontinental Exchange (ICE)

Contracts offered by the platform will allow market participants to bet on future changes in bitcoin prices and receive payments in cryptocurrency, which distinguishes them from the existing regulated futures of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), which allow you to receive only the fiat equivalent of the earned bitcoins.

The first deal was concluded at 8:02 pm ET at a price of $ 10,115, Bakkt said in a statement.

“Bakkt Bitcoin futures are actively trading on ICE Futures US, while Bakkt Warehouse continues to accept deposits in bitcoins. We take customer confidence seriously and are happy to serve this market, ”the platform added.

In August, Bakkt CEO Kelly Loeffler announced that after passing the self-certification process, the U.S. Derivatives Exchange Commission (CFTC) gave permission to launch the platform.

At the time of publication, the volume of trading in monthly futures since the launch of the instrument amounted to 18 BTC (one contract corresponds to 1 BTC).

The first cryptocurrency at the same time was trading just above $ 9900.

Earlier it was reported that within a few months Bakkt plans to launch a mobile wallet for digital currencies Bakkt Pay.
