Atlantis hard fork in the Ethereum Classic network is expected to take place on September 17th at block 8,772,000, which is expected to be found at approximately 12:00 UTC.
It was originally planned to hold a hard fork on the block of 8,750,000, but due to the fact that, according to estimates, the update would have happened on Sunday, September 15, the representatives of ETC Labs decided to postpone. This is necessary so that all parties involved in the upgrade process, that is, developers and exchanges, have the opportunity within a week to detect and fix possible problems.
Hard fork Atlantis suggests another update – Agharta. It will take place a little later. The upgrades are aimed at making the Ethereum Classic network the changes that were proposed by the developers for the Ethereum network two years ago. Updates should increase interoperability between the two networks, simplify the process of migrating decentralized applications between blockchains.
