Apple will not create its own digital currency

The apple corporation has no plans to create a digital currency, said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.

In an interview with representatives of the French publication Les Echos, Tim Cook said that the company does not plan to launch cryptocurrencies or any tokens. He believes that caring for currency is the main mission of any government; Cook does not like the idea that some private group creates its own money. According to him, companies should not seek power in this way.

At the same time, the giant Facebook has a different opinion. The crypto project Libra, within the framework of which it is planned to develop stablecoin, met a lot of criticism from financial regulators around the world. Moreover, France and Germany even announced their intention to block the development of the project in Europe. Such pressure has made itself felt – some important players are gradually refusing to participate in Libra, some are still deciding whether to join Libra or not, among them – Visa, PayPal, MasterCard.
