Analysts representing the research company Aite Group claim that in 2019 the share of Bitcoin cryptocurrency operations at OTC platforms will be 65% of the total volume of operations with BTC.
Over the past three years, the crypto market has shown active development, many new crypto exchanges have appeared, which offer interesting financial instruments to their users, institutional investors are entering the crypto market, and over-the-counter trading is developing. For example, in 2016, the share of OTC transactions with BTC in the total volume of operations with cryptocurrency was only 32%, after which this indicator began to steadily increase. Already in 2018, the share of operations with BTC on OTC platforms was 60%.
Gabriel Wang, an analyst at Aite Group, claims that Bitcoin has finally reached a new level of maturation. The flagship cryptocurrency is turning into an increasingly complex and serious asset, being a catalyst for the same trend in other cryptocurrencies. Increasing the volume of OTC transactions is beneficial to institutional players. Representatives of the traditional financial sector, wishing to enter the crypto market as well, avoid using traditional retail crypto investors sites and carry out large crypto operations conveniently using OTC platforms.
Aite Group analysts also noted that institutional players will become more active in entering the crypto market when the BTC rate rises to $ 10,000. By the way, last night the BTC course briefly exceeded the level of $ 9,000. Shortly thereafter, a rollback of approximately $ 400 occurred.
