Ripple broadens its reach with launch of Ripple Prime for U.S. institutions

Ripple has unveiled its new prime brokerage platform, Ripple Prime, designed to offer U.S. institutional investors direct access to digital asset spot trading, marking a key expansion in its financial services portfolio.

Ripple’s latest move underscores its ambitions to become a full-service digital finance provider. The newly launched Ripple Prime enables over-the-counter (OTC) spot trading for leading cryptocurrencies, including XRP and Ripple’s own stablecoin, RLUSD. By integrating spot, swaps, and futures trading within a single platform, Ripple aims to give U.S. institutions greater control and efficiency in managing digital portfolios.

The platform’s debut follows Ripple’s acquisition of multi-asset prime broker Hidden Road earlier this year, which brought crucial regulatory licenses and a robust infrastructure base. This merger allows clients to cross-margin OTC spot positions alongside derivatives and CME-listed futures, offering unprecedented flexibility for institutional strategies.

A new era of institutional crypto trading

Ripple Prime complements the firm’s existing pillars — Ripple Payments and Ripple Custody — extending its ecosystem beyond blockchain-based payments and secure digital asset storage. Through this triad, the companyprovides a vertically integrated suite that supports end-to-end liquidity, custody, and trading. XRP and RLUSD sit at the center of this system, designed to streamline settlement and reduce friction for high-volume users.

The launch also reflects a growing appetite among U.S. financial institutions for regulated crypto exposure. Ripple Prime’s focus on compliance and infrastructure integration aims to attract asset managers, hedge funds, and corporate treasuries exploring tokenized markets without compromising oversight.

Strategically, the platform signals of company evolution from a cross-border payments network into a diversified financial intermediary. By combining prime brokerage, OTC execution, and liquidity solutions under one roof, it´s positions itself to compete with both traditional and emerging digital brokers.

As the crypto industry matures and institutions seek consolidated access points, Ripple Prime may become a cornerstone for regulated digital trading — bridging conventional finance and blockchain-based assets in the U.S. market.
