The company confirmed the regulatory process on official social post, detailing plans to deliver 24/5 liquidity for domestic single equities.
The regulatory submission includes two separate documents. Coinbase Derivatives submitted Form 1-N to operate as a securities futures exchange. In parallel, Coinbase Financial Markets filed Form BD-N to operate as a registered broker-dealer under Section 15(b)(11) of the Securities Exchange Act.
The proposed contracts provide capital-efficient exposure to individual corporate equities without fixed expiration dates. Instead, these instruments utilize dynamic funding rates to keep futures contract values aligned with underlying spot shares.
Decentralized venues also explore architectural shifts, as near integrates hyperliquid liquidity to deploy confidential off-chain execution for perpetual transactions. In contrast, Coinbase concentrates directly on domestic regulatory approvals.
Dual oversight and onshore deployment
Single-stock derivatives require joint jurisdiction from both the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. While the SEC filings establish the corporate status, final deployment remains contingent on authorization from the CFTC.
Until now, Coinbase only offered equity perpetual contracts to non-U.S. clients through international entities. That market launched on March 20, 2026, offering contracts on corporate issuers including Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla. Those international instruments feature up to 10x leverage and settle directly in USDC.
Technical access to the underlying product framework remains detailed through coinbase institutional services. The platform aims to capture continuous pricing across institutional trading hours.
Market demand for non-crypto synthetics has shown persistent momentum. While Coinbase targets Wall Street equities, rwa perpetual futures near benchmark volumes across offshore alternative derivative venues.
The current notice filings do not guarantee approval or a fixed rollout calendar. Commercial execution remains pending until federal agencies complete their compliance reviews.
