The Supreme Court of Mari El overturned the decision of the lower instance on blocking the VPN service HideMy.name and sent the case for a new review. This is with reference to service representatives writes portal "Jellyfish" .

HideMy.name was blocked in 2018 by a decision of one of the district courts of Yoshkar-Ola. Representatives of the company were not attracted to the process, and it was not possible to find out the reason for blocking them, in his own words.

“Our precedent proves that today, any site or business in RuNet can be blocked for almost a year on an artificial pretext. At the same time, it will be possible to remove the blocking only after a few circles of the bureaucratic hell, ”said Markus Saar, head of HideMy.name.

The decision to cancel the HideMy.name blocking was made on May 23, but as of June 1, the resource is still in the registry of prohibited sites of Roskomnadzor. The service itself after the lock is located on the hidemyna.me domain.

Recall, the Russian law “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection” defines the responsibilities for the owners of VPN services, anonymizers and search engine operators. Such duties include restricting access to Internet resources prohibited in the Russian Federation.

At the end of March, Roskomnadzor demanded from owners of 10 large VPN services to connect to the state information system within 30 days. Otherwise, the agency threatened to block services.

These threats, however, did not produce the effect: most of the services to cooperate with the Roskomnadzor refused , announcing the closure of servers in Russia.
