The UK tax office has demanded that cryptocurrency exchanges provide usernames and a history of their transactions. Appropriate letters received Coinbase, eToro and CEX.IO, reports CoinDesk citing informed sources.
So, according to sources, the agency is interested in data for the last two to three years. If the rumors are confirmed, this will not affect those who acquired Bitcoin in 2012-2013.
The service has not yet confirmed the information, but said that the agency has the full right to demand such data from bitcoin exchanges, since cryptocurrency operations can be taxed.
Earlier it became known that the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) sends letters to cryptocurrency investors with a request to report on income from operations with cryptocurrency.
It is believed that in the near future, the IRS will introduce a new cryptocurrency guide.
Recall that in late July, the Office of Financial Regulation and Supervision of the United Kingdom (FCA) published the final version of the guide to cryptocurrency assets, indicating which of them fall under its jurisdiction.
