In the darknet, Bitcoin is increasingly being used as a means of payment, and 2019 could be a record year for total payments in dollars. This writes Bloomberg , citing data from analytical company Chainalysis.

So, the researchers of the company calculated that only for the first half of the current year about $ 515 million in bitcoins was spent on illegal trading floors. For comparison, the previous record was recorded in 2017, and then this value was $ 872 million for the whole year.

Analysts expect that in 2019 the amount of bitcoin transactions in the darknet will exceed $ 1 billion.

According to Chainalysis, the largest illegal marketplace today is Hydra, and the most sought-after product is drugs.

It is noteworthy that at such sites, Bitcoin outstripped Monero, an anonymous cryptocurrency, which is often accused of being the main tool for conducting illegal operations.
