The head of Roskomnadzor acknowledged that isolation of the RuNet is technically impossible, but then he changed his mind

In the framework of the International Economic Forum, the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, said that there would be no “Cheburash” Internet in Russia, because isolation of the RuNet is technically impossible.

“It’s technically impossible to isolate a runet. And all the talk about the fact that the Runet will be “Cheburashny” is all impossible, ”the head of the department said.

At the same time, Zharov stressed that the law on the isolation of the Russian segment of the Internet adopted in Russia should be considered as a law on a “secure and stable runet”. And, proving this, he began to contradict himself:

“Previously, everyone thought that there was no threat to the Internet, but the story of Huawei and Google suggests that anything is possible in the modern world, ” noted Zharov.

In conclusion, the head of Roskomnadzor advised the Russians to behave on the Internet "just as carefully as on a busy road."

Recall, according to the authorities, the law on isolation of the RuNet is designed to ensure the operation of the RuNet in case it is disconnected from the global network. The cost of implementing the provisions of the law will be at least 30 billion rubles .
