The developers of the popular Electrum wallet are preparing a major release with support for the Lightning Network. This was announced by the project's creator, Thomas Vogtlin, during a panel discussion at the BIP001 conference in Odessa.
The lead developer, however, did not give the exact release date.
Note that a new version of the Electrum wallet (v3.3.7) has recently been released, which contains a number of fixes and improvements.

Lightning Network (LN) is a payment protocol that allows for low-cost and instantaneous transactions, which is also a solution to the problem of Bitcoin scalability. According to 1ML , currently 8954 LN nodes are in operation, interconnected by 34,242 payment channels.
