Russian Mining Company (RMC), created with the participation of Russian Internet Ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev, has placed equipment for cryptocurrency mining at the Nadvoitsky Aluminum Plant (NAZ) in Karelia. About this writes RBC.
The plant is owned by Oleg Deripaska's Rusal company, and in 2018 it was mothballed due to sanctions imposed by the United States on the Russian Federation. In January 2019, sanctions were lifted from the enterprise. It is noteworthy that the premises of NAZ are also rented by Cryptouniverse, a member of the RAKIB association.
According to Dmitry Marinichev, a decentralized digital hub created on the basis of NAZ will be engaged in the sale of computing power abroad.
“Now the plant is unprofitable for Rusal, the electricity supplied to it is practically not being utilized. Our idea is to redesign the plant and sell its computing power as a service, that is, provide an IT service, ”said Marinichev.
On October 24, RMC announced a partnership with the UK-registered cryptocurrency exchange Cryptonex, which is included in the top 40 Coinmarketcap.
Cryptonex transferred 42 million CNX coins to RMC – 20% of the total cryptocurrency issue. With the funds received from the sale, the exchange purchases and places equipment for mining bitcoin.
Together with Cryptonex RMC, they expect to receive a total pool power of up to 20% of world bitcoin mining. Given the current value of bitcoin – $ 9.4 thousand – mining income can be up to $ 101.5 million per month.
It is expected that the pool will be launched before the end of the year.
Recall that in November 2017, the Marinichev Radius Group company converted the territory of the abandoned Moskvich automobile plant into a giant mining center , which housed the capacity of the BitcoinRussia pool. But for all three years of its existence, it accounted for no more than 1.5% of the bitcoins mined.
The center was closed in the spring of 2019 due to unprofitability.
