The case of Alexander Vinnik will be considered by the new composition of the court in November

Greek court to consider petition for annulment of all previous decisions against Russian Alexander Vinnik, suspected of laundering at least $ 4 billion through the BTC-e, on November 6. This was reported to RIA Novosti by Vinnik’s lawyer Timofey Musatov.

Initially, the meeting was scheduled for October. In addition to the postponement, the composition of the court also changed.

“It was decided to consider the case by the same composition of the court that had previously convicted him. A complaint has been filed. If the same judges made a decision that did not suit us, they would risk their careers. The chairperson of the court made a decision to withdraw, the other judges did the same. This is unprecedented. The motive was chosen unique – the conflict of judges with the Greek lawyer Zoya Konstantopulu, ” Musatov said.

Cancellation of all previously issued decisions in the Vinnik case, the defense requires in connection with changes in Greek law, according to which the presence of a statement of the victims is a prerequisite for initiating criminal proceedings on charges of fraud.

“But he [the victim] is not in this matter,” the Russian lawyer said.

Musatov is convinced that now the court will not be able to decide not in favor of Vinnik.

“We know that the prosecutor’s office wants to make a statement that this case is beyond the jurisdiction of the judges of the Supreme Court. They do not want the case pending. Because if consideration begins, decisions will have to be reversed. They are issued in accordance with the old law, which is repealed. There is judicial practice in Greece on the annulment of all decisions. If a different decision is made, the issues of discrimination against Russian citizens in Greece will be clear. ”

Recall that in July the court extended the detention of Vinnik until January 2020.
