Sberbank refused plans to work with cryptocurrency

The Russian Sberbank has suspended plans to work with cryptocurrency due to the lack of a regulatory framework governing this area, TASS reports.

“We were waiting for legislation that allows cryptocurrency trading. Since at present the regulator is looking negatively, we decided to suspend this plan , ”said the vice-president of the financial institution Andrei Shemetov.

Shemetov also stressed that the Central Bank has a negative attitude to the cryptocurrency industry.

Earlier, the head of Sberbank German Gref said that in the coming years, digital currencies will not have a “big future”. Shortly before, Gref expressed the opinion that the blockchain is capable of providing a “giant shift” in the economy, but not earlier than in 5-10 years.
