Ripple declined to comment on the possible purchase of MoneyGram

Twitter user CryptHawk, citing a “trusted source”, said that cryptocurrency startup Ripple had acquired MoneyGram money transfer system on Monday, June 3.

The companies themselves said they did not comment on speculation and rumors, and advised to follow the official news.

Note that the partnership Ripple and MoneyGram, aimed at upgrading payments, was concluded in January 2018 . MoneyGram then indicated that it plans to use the xRapid solution and the XRP token in its work.

The difficult financial situation of the company speaks in favor of the possible purchase of MoneyGram – by the end of September 2018 its debts amounted to $ 902.8 million.

Meanwhile, Ripple does not publish its financial indicators, revealing only sales volumes of the native XRP token. So, in the first quarter of 2019, Ripple sold XRP in the amount of $ 169 million .

It is known that in May, Ripple entered into a partnership agreement with rival MoneyGram, money transfer system Ria Money Transfer, a subsidiary of a payment service provider Euronet Worldwide.

The Philippine company SendFriend also announced its readiness to use the xRapid solution for fast and cheap money transfers.

“We use an xRapid network with an XRP token. At the moment, you can send only private payments with it. The possibility of corporate payments will be added in the future, ”representatives of SendFriend stressed.

Among the new partners of Ripple was the Siamese Commercial Bank (SCB). The largest and oldest Thai bank plans to "soon" begin to use the XRP token.

Recall that on May 1, 1 billion XRP tokens were unfrozen on the Ripple escrow account. It is assumed that they will be used for various changes in the Ripple ecosystem, as well as for direct sales.
